Private Tuition aboard X Beat II

With ‘X Beat II’ being based at Penarth Marina we should be able to find a boat and instructor ready to go and undertake the following actvities:

International Certificate of Competence (ICC) training and assessment

Premier Tasters and Refresher Skills especially boat handling – usually 3/4 hour session

Certificate of Competence Exam Coaching

Below is our Sail Yacht Schedule – Courses and Bookings that already exist for Bear and X Beat II can be seen. That means that any date that isn’t planned to be used can be booked for you and friends. X Beat II

‘X Beat II’ a Beneteau 40.7 based at Penarth Marina has been with the fleet the longest – it has three double cabins and a one heads compartment.  The schedule below some events that can be booked by paying for a cabin as an individual or couple for cruising, and for 2022 you can sign up for racing both local, Round the Island Race in June and Falmouth Race Week in August also faeture – outside scheduled events it is possible to book a private event to meet your requirements subject to one of skippers being available. RYA Sail Cruising Courses can be seen in the schedule and Private Tuition can be booked when not booked or scheduled on other events.

ICC Preparation (& Assessment)

The ICC or International Certificate of Competence for leisure sail yachts up to 24m (and power boats up to 10 metres) is the minimum requirement for Bareboat Sail Yacht Charter in many holiday locations across the world.

This is our most popular offering and last season alone over 20 people became qualified. It is an alternative to 10 days of training normally required to complete the RYA Day Skipper.

There are two elements – theory knowledge and practical skills – for beginners it will be 1 day and 2-3 days respectively – remember it is you and who you wish to bring along – no waiting for the 4th student to muck up and spend more time. Cardiff Yachting Company Private Tuition – Premier Taster Session

Tempted to have a go, want to be more than a passenger, not too many people, a fair time to reflect on whether I want to do more, or at least I’ve had a go – then consider:

The 3-4 hour morning, lunchtime, afternoon or evening sessions will run from our berth outside Pier 64 at Penarth Marina and will take place on Cardiff Bay, so no tide times or taking time locking in and out of Cardiff Barrage.

Most of the session will be for you to get hands on experience on our sail yacht X Beat II in Cardiff Bay. The Skipper will demonstrate and you can have a go at some of the practical exercises required for the International Certificate of Competence – see above section.

There will be plenty of time to explain options available for further development.

Cardiff Yachting Private Tuition Course – Advanced Navigation – Theory & Practice

Thinking of doing your Advanced Powerboat, Coastal Skipper Course you will have read that there is a pre-requisite of a RYA Coastal Skipper Theory Course or TO THE STANDARD OF?

The course we have designed reduces the time required to 2 x days face to face teaching, can be done on a 1:1 basis, no formal exam to undertake, Bristol Channel examples using todays tides and weather with all the relevant theory aspects covered.

These include: Collision Regulations, Navigation Theory & Practice, RADAR & AIS, and Weather

We offer these courses throughout the year on weekdays – this includes weekends during November to February
